According to Dave Chappelle, R. Kelly and his minions actually rushed him one evening after bumping into each other at a concert. It was Dave’s show, Chappelle’s Show, which sparked the ire of R. Kelly due to the infamous skit, “P*ss On You,” which parodied Kelly’s supposed sexual misconduct, specifically, when videos surfaced allegedly showing him urinating on underage girls.
TMZ reported that Dave’s humor is actually the reason why he was able to get out of such a sticky situation. Last night, Dave appeared at the WeHo improv with his friend and former costar, Donnell Rawlings, also a star in the comedy world.
During a Common concert one evening, Kelly and his crew approached him in Chicago and confronted him about the skit. According to Dave, his “goons” made it abundantly clear they weren’t happy about the infamous and now legendary sketch.
While things never became physical, Dave said Kelly got in his face about it and asked how he could’ve made fun of him in such a way. You can check out the video below to see the classic skit, featured in Dave’s show that went on to become a massive cult hit.
In addition to the R. Kelly allegations, Chappelle said it’s more important now than ever for comedians to talk about all of the things wrong with the world. This comes after the Lifetime docu-series, Surviving R. Kelly, which has been the talk of the town for the last two weeks.
Since R. Kelly was outed as a predator, many of his cohorts in the industry, including those who once acted as his defenders, are no longer in his corner as they once were. For years, it seemed like Kelly was just the victim of hysteria and possibly racially-motivated accusations.
However, with the advent of the #MeToo movement, women and girls have felt empowered to come out about those who have subjected them to mistreatment.

Kelly joins the ranks of other alleged predators like Harvey Weinstein, who have both come down from their position in their respective industry due to allegations of misconduct and abuse. Reports have it that industry people have known about both Kelly and Harvey for years.
