Some BBC EastEnders fans have been left flabbergasted after seeing unearthed pictures of Danny Dyer from back in the day. Danny Dyer, 45, played Mick Carter - the ex-owner of the famous pub The Queen Vic, in Albert Square.

Known for his no-nonsense roles, you’d expect people to spot him a mile off. But you’d be wrong. Back in 1993 aged just 16, Danny appeared on ITV classic show Prime Suspect. He has since appeared in The Bill, Casualty, Skins and even Hollyoaks.

He has also played Billy the Limpet in Mean Machine, and as Tommy Johnson in The Football Factory. But a good 30 years ago he wasn’t the hardman we know today

Danny was Martin Fletcher in Prime Suspect, which he acted in alongside Helen Mirren. Geezer Danny’s old look was too much for some, with one person joking that he looks ‘like a young professor Snape’.

Another said: "Don't he look so different." Whilst another person jokingly said: "Is that Mark (who used to be on EastEnders.)"

Sadly Danny said goodbye to EastEnders at Christmas after his character Mick Carter was involved in a tragic drowning accident and is presumed dead. The devastating incident happened after Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) crashed her car off a cliff with Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) inside.
